The center is not a technical department overlapping with the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. It is a "central nervous system" that lets the university's academic energy spark chemical reactions, turning AI from a single discipline into shared research infrastructure.

Acting as an academic catalyst and "cross-domain translator," it diagnoses bottlenecks in each field, provides standardized AI access points and modular tools, and serves as the campus center for data governance and standardization, building shareable feature datasets under privacy and compliance.

A key node for advancing "AI Taiwan" and digital transformation. With public-interest character and academic neutrality, the center is a "public think tank" and "policy translator" connecting government decisions with frontier technology.

It undertakes major projects in smart defense, resilient power grids, autonomous semiconductor processes, and universal smart healthcare, and pioneers AI governance and ethics, helping shape AI legislation suited to Taiwan's culture and legal environment.

A bridge across the gap between basic research and product development, focused on TRL 3–7. The center acts as an "external R&D engine" for enterprises through joint R&D offices and co-creation labs.

It co-defines problems with industry, stress-tests models on real de-identified data, and develops vertical-domain models for precision manufacturing, semiconductor packaging/testing, and smart logistics, while incubating campus spin-offs.

An open research hub with a global vision, embedding NTPU's research energy into the worldwide cycle of AI innovation through bilateral and multilateral joint research with top universities, tech giants, and national AI institutes.

It contributes to international standards and open-source communities (e.g. Linux Foundation AI & Data, Hugging Face), turning achievements such as a Traditional-Chinese LLM benchmark into recognized standards, and hosting summits and hackathons that draw global talent.
